Mun, VinTech’s president, was a child when her home was burglarized while their family was asleep. The next morning, the family found one of their kitchen’s butcher knives placed in the living room. She began to feel unsafe at home and experienced recurring nightmares about the incident. She recalls “I had no peace of mind until we moved to a new home.”

Incidents like this can have a long-term effect on how we view protection. In Mun’s case, not only did it disturb her peace at an early age but later influenced her decision to take a role in the security industry.

Feeling secure is at the base of every success in a person’s life. It means having a sense of control of yourself and the environment. Many factors can influence our sense of security. Last year, VinTech systems worked with the Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce to increase security in their neighborhood. Our company installed 18  high definition cameras. We had positive results although the the project was challenging. As a result, this project was featured in the latest issue of Security Management. This magazine is published by ASIS International, a leader in the security industry. The article described the approach we took and the results of the installation. Our project draw attention because the process is an example to follow to achieve a successful installation.

The Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce decided to add an additional 18 cameras in the Chicago Chinatown area. While the neighborhood is considered quite safe, community leaders have been discussing the ongoing safety of residents and tourists. In association with Chicago Chinatown parking, The Chicago Chinatown Chamber of commerce selected our company to provide expertise and installation of the new cameras. 

The Challenge

Our challenge was to identify the most suitable locations to distribute the cameras. The Chinatown neighborhood is located in Chicago’s south side so we carefully considered the needs of the community to provide optimal solutions.

During our meetings, we identified areas with higher crime rates. We decided to focus on even distribution to maximize coverage.  Additionally, we recommended the use of wireless high definition cameras that detect motion.  These cameras follow motion, record continuously, and provide wider coverage.  Furthermore, a single high definition cameras is capable of covering the same area as four analog cameras. This capability was essential in providing wider coverage while simultaneously being cost-effective.

The Solution

As part of the solution, we also emphasize the importance of being able to identify facial features and license plate numbers. Only high definition cameras can enhanced images without compromising details. The system’s DVR automatically saves and stores footage for up to 21 days. If a crime occurs,  police officials can obtain the footage to assist in identifying the offender.  In many cases, this leads to an arrest. 

Moreover, other Chicago neighborhoods are already taking similar actions in an effort to increase safety in their communities. We are confident that every effort will improve safety in these communities.

How many times a day do you hear about crime in Chicago? “Well, in my profession I hear it daily.”

Protect from vandalism

A client with a multi-million dollar home.

“I received a call from a client that asked me what kind of security we offered for vacant homes. He was currently working on a home that he was finalizing for an auction. This particular home happens to be one of the largest homes in Illinois (I did not know that at the time).”

The Challenge

“His concern was the vandalism that was occurring in the home, constant break-ins and many trespassers after hours, damaging the property. I explained to him customized service we offer for vacant homes with no electricity, that would be perfect for what he needed. Our system would notify him immediately once the cameras detect a trespasser, not requiring any kind of power.”

The Solution

We installed 10 motion viewers that surround the entire home’s proximity. These make it it difficult for intruders to trespass and not be seen by the cameras. On the first night the system was installed the client received 15 notifications of intrusion on his property. Our system was enabled with sirens and motion was captured as far as 30 ft from the viewer. The alarm siren would go off and scare off the trespassers.

He joked about how he kept playing back all the clips of the intruders running off his property, causing him amusement.”Providing our clients a secure solution that did exactly what they wanted gives me peace of mind. We don’t always get the sale, but being able to provide a well given solution for your security needs is a rewarding feeling.
